Thousands Of Pot Plants Raided In Month Long Effort

A marijuana task force in Siskiyou County has been working as fast as they can to seize pot plants from private property. The county’s cultivation ordinance that went into effect July 5th is fashioned after the Shasta County ordinance, with a total ban on outdoor growing and a limit of 12 plants that must be in a building with very restrictive specifications. It’s not known if any Siskiyou County patients or caregivers have managed to successfully assemble a grow shed in accordance with the rules. An August 10th five search warrants were served in the Shasta Vista area. Two arrests were made and more than 500 plants were seized, along with 200 pounds of processed bud. Two days later an arrest was made in Hornbrook after the discovery of 187 plants and a butane honey oil lab. On August 18th the team returned to the Shasta Vista area to serve another 6 search warrants. 5 arrests were made and 600 plants were seized, along with 4 pounds of processed bud, some guns and a generator. On August 23rd the team helped federal agents in a raid of a private home on Edgewood Road in North Weed. 11 people were arrested and 3412 plants were seized. On August 25th at a home on Lassen Lane in Mount Shasta 12 very large high yield plants were seized along with 25 pounds of processed bud. Another 192 plants were taken that same day from Shasta Vista. On August 30th 137 plants, several pounds of bud and a honey oil lab were taken from West Scenic Drive in Mount Shasta, and in a different raid in the Mount Shasta Forest area of McCloud 200 plants and 40 pounds of processed bud was taken. On September 1st, 5 search warrants were served in Mount Shasta Forest, yielding more than 500 plants and 170 pounds of processed bud. On Wednesday 9 raids were done in the Klamath River Estates and Copco. About 900 plants and 4500 Dollars was seized. Sheriff Jon Lopey says the team has another 34 search warrants pending. A different federal-led task force has been working public lands, making 20 arrests and seizing around 91,000 plants, nearly 3000 pounds of processed bud and 3 honey oil labs.
