Annual Whiskeytown Harvest Festival Is Saturday

This Saturday Friends of Whiskeytown invites families to enjoy the 6th annual Harvest Festival at the Tower House Historic District. Many of the apple trees around the Camden House were planted by pioneers in the mid 19th century and have been producing fruit annually ever since. Levi Tower planted the first peach trees north of Sacramento and planted more than a thousand trees around the Tower House area. The oasis-like area was a famous landmark in its time. The Harvest Festival will feature apple tasting, a bake-off contest, a hand-operated apple press demonstration, games, gold panning, and tours. No fee will be required to park in the Tower House District lots. The festival is this Saturday from 10AM to 4PM. Details are at nps.gov/whis.
