A 31-year-old man will stand trial for “vehicular murder” from a crash in February of last year. It was 10AM when 78-year-old Wallace Shelton of Anderson pulled his Ford pickup away from the stop sign at Thomas Road and onto southbound Highway 273 directly into the path of Tyler Schweizer of Redding, who was allegedly driving his Chevy pickup at 99 miles an hour. He struck the drivers side door of the ford, forcing both vehicles into the northbound lanes. Shelton died of his injuries the following day. Schweizer a history of bad driving, including a DUI during which he was driving too fast in 2009, a high speed chase in 2011 when he drove 70 miles an hour in a residential neighborhood and rammed a police car, and another DUI in 2011 when he crashed into a parked car. Schweizer will be arraigned on September 28th.
