Siskiyou County Continues War On Pot

Law enforcement in Siskiyou County has continued their extra aggressive eradication of marijuana plants, following the adoption 2-and-a-half months ago of a county ordinance that forbids growing outside. On September 7th the Siskiyou County Marijuana Team, comprised of sheriff’s deputies and D.A. investigators, served 9 search warrants in the Klamath River Country Estates and the Copco area. 1273 plants were seized, along with several guns and 4500 Dollars cash. 12 more warrants were served in the Klamath River Country Estates on the 13th and 15th and another 1248 plants were seized, along with 228 pounds of processed bud and two guns. Criminal charges are pending. The CHP has been trying to deprive the marijuana operations of their lifeblood by stopping water trucks. 29 citations have been written against water truck drivers and one truck was impounded. Meanwhile a state and federal task force has been raiding marijuana gardens on public lands. 2 arrests were made last week and 1268 plants were taken from an operation partly on public and partly on private land on Gray Back near Happy Camp. Also last week, 10,355 plants were seized at a site in the Granite Creek area. Sheriff Jon Lopey says they have plenty more gardens in their sights that are targeted for elimination.
