A second alarm vegetation fire burned in West Redding Wednesday night. The wind-driven blaze was first reported shortly before 10 O’clock at the southwest corner of Placer Street and Buenaventura Boulevard. All Redding Fire Department resources were eventually called to assist as the fire had a moderate rate of spread through hot-burning manzanita and scrub brush and threatened nearby homes. The fire was declared contained at 2 acres about an hour after it was reported.
