A man was arrested Friday night on attempted murder charges after an alleged shooting that resulted from road rage, according to Redding Police. Officers were called just after 5PM to Eureka Way and Buenaventura when 21-year-old Ryan Thomas Clements said he and his girlfriend had been shot at during a confrontation with 34-year-old Francisco Fernandez of Yuba City. Clements said the two had been driving north on Buenaventura near Placer Street. Fernandez was driving his truck in front of them and apparently excessive exhaust smoke was blowing in their direction. As they both turned onto Eureka Way and argument between Clements and Fernandez apparently broke out. Police say that Fernandez tried to run Clements off the road several times. The two vehicles eventually stopped on Eureka Way and Clements and Fernandez got out. Fernandez apparently pulled out a handgun and fired several rounds towardsClements, who retreated back to his vehicle, but not before a bullet struck his left arm. Fernandez fled but was spotted a short time later by a CHP airplane in the area of Placer Street and Plateau Circle. He was eventually arrested on Middletown Park Drive. Clements was taken to Mercy for his gunshot wound, while Fernandez was booked into the Shasta County Jail on attempted murder charges.
