Anderson Officers Involved In 2 Chases In 24 Hours

Anderson Police chased a stolen pickup truck early Wednesday morning. The 2003 Ford F-150 was spotted on southbound Highway 273 and when it turned onto West Center Street the officer turned his lights and siren on. The truck headed west on South Street and then turned onto West Anderson Drive. After about a mile and a half the truck left the road and headed through cow pastures, reaching speeds up to 90 miles an hour and crashing through three cattle gates. The chase ended when the driver tried to take the truck up a steep hill. Identified as 46-year-old David Schott, he reportedly jumped out of the moving truck and took off running, leaving his girlfriend in the pickup, which rolled back down the hill and crashed into a tree. She was taken by ambulance to be treated for minor injuries. As officers were helping her, Schott apparently got away on foot.

One of Shasta County’s Most Wanted was captured in Anderson Tuesday. An APD Officer on Stingy Lane saw a BMW speed by, and then accelerate to get away from him. Other officers responded and they found the BMW parked in a driveway on Thomas Drive. The resident allowed officers to search and they found 36-year-old Michelle Welsh hiding in the backyard. She allegedly had 6 Grams of Meth on her. She was arrested for the drugs, the chase, and her 5 warrants.
