The Shasta County Coroner’s Office has released the name of a motorcyclist who died after being sideswiped by a car Wednesday morning. Redding Police were called at 11:42AM to the intersection of South Bonnyview and Churn Creek Road. 64-year-old William Wilburn of Cottonwood had exited northbound I-5 and was turning right but didn’t see an eastbound motorcyclist riding through the intersection on a green light. Wilburn’s Toyota Venza sideswiped the motorcycle. The rider, 59-year-old Bryan Avila, died after arriving at Mercy Hospital. His family has been notified.
