It’s been more than 24 hours since a tractor-trailer crashed on northbound Interstate Five north of Lakehead and it’s still there. The trailer, loaded with 80,000 pounds of cat food, crashed Sunday afternoon near the Delta Road offramp. The truck hauling that trailer left the freeway and it’s fuel tanks got punctured, with 80 to 90 gallons of diesel spilled, possibly into Dog Creek. The trailer came to rest hanging over the lanes of the freeway. Clearing the mess has been a major engineering project. Three different tow companies have been called upon to try and solve the puzzle. Meanwhile k-rail in the median has been moved to widen the center divide and allow traffic to more easily pass.
