A Cottonwood man has been found guilty in a hit-and-run that killed a boy last December. 15-year-old Aaron Mieger was walking with another boy south along the side of Main Street in Cottonwood when a southbound Toyota Camry driven by 25-year-old Robert Lloyd Tyler approached from behind. The car went onto the shoulder and struck Mieger but missed the other boy. Tyler didn’t even slow down but instead he fled the scene. Mieger was taken to Mercy Medical Center where he was in critical condition until he passed away 3 days later. A team of CHP investigators canvassed Cottonwood and got multiple tips that pointed them to Tyler. He was taken into custody after confessing that he was the man behind the wheel. He said he was a drug user but was not on drugs at the time and hadn’t been drinking. He’s been convicted of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter, but without the gross negligence prosecutors had sought. He could get 4 years in prison when he’s sentenced November 18th.
