Man Sentenced To 16 Months For Gang Stabbing

A 30-year-old man has been sentenced for his part in a gang-related stabbing at a Corning bar. Last October 29-year-old Antoveli Galvez was at the True Brew Bar at Fifth and Solano Streets in Corning when he was jumped by six Hispanic men who stabbed him several times in the abdomen and legs. Galvez suffered a broken nose, a broken eye socket, stab wounds and abrasions. Witnesses said they heard the assailants speaking gang slurs. After the attack the men fled in a pickup truck that an officer later found at a home on Highway 99W north of Corning. Several men fled on foot, but two were caught, including Miguel Mendoza. He was convicted of street terrorism. He had held Galvez while another man stabbed him. He’s been sentenced to 16 months in state prison.
