The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office says a car thief got high-centered during a high-speed chase. At 3 O’clock Saturday morning a deputy on Lake Boulevard at Hiatt Drive tried to pull over a car for a mechanical issue. The car slowed down and moved toward the roadside but then quickly accelerated, leading the deputy on a chase at over 100 miles an hour. The driver failed to make the right turn from Lake to Shasta Dam Boulevard and the car got stuck on a dirt embankment. 31-year-old Dustin Lyod had a suspended driver’s license and the car had been stolen out of Modoc County. Deputies say they also found Methamphetamine in the car. Lyod was booked into jail on multiple charges.
