Election Officer Will Monitor For Voter Fraud

The U.S. Attorney has assigned a district election officer to oversee the November 8th election and handle complaints of election fraud and voting rights abuses. Federal law prohibits intimidating or bribing voters, buying and selling votes, altering vote tallies, stuffing ballot boxes, and marking ballots for voters against their wishes. Actions that may be interpreted as intimidation include questioning or challenging voters at polling places, or photographing or videotaping them. Complaints on election day can be made to the elections officer at 916-554-2700 or straight to Washington D.C. at 800-253-3931. Reports can also be made to the FBI at tips.fbi.com.
