Shasta County is getting a piece of a consumer protection settlement against a pillow manufacturer. The district attorney’s office is one of ten D.A.’s offices that make up the California Food, Drug and Medical Device Task Force, which prosecutes product safety and labeling violations. A case was filed in Alameda County against “My Pillow”. The manufacturer claimed it could help with Fibromyalgia, Insomnia, migraine headaches, TMJ syndrome, and Restless Leg Syndrome. Apparently none of those claims are supported by scientific evidence. “My Pillow” was also advertised as the official bed pillow of the National Sleep Foundation, without disclosing a financial connection with the foundation. “My Pillow” will pay a Million Dollars, to be split up among the 10 counties. The company will also donate 10,000 Dollars to One Safe Place.
