Firefighters Will Pass Out Candy In Redding

Redding Firefighters will be rolling fire engines out into some neighborhoods around town Monday night to spread treats and safety. Fire personnel will make the visits as duties allow and pass out candy, glow necklaces and fire safety flyers that come with a 9-volt battery for a smoke alarm. City council members will be tagging along as well. Trick or Treaters should carry flashlights and wear reflective clothing. The danger of being hit by a car can’t be overstressed, and kids should never assume that a driver can see them.  At the same time, drivers should be ready to react if a kid darts out in front of them. Kids should never go to a house unless a porch light or some other reassuring sign is displayed, and kids should always have a grown-up with them. Remember there’s safety in numbers. Hosts inviting trick or treaters should remove tripping hazards and lock up their dogs.
