Nearly 20-Thousand Ballots Checked In At Clerks Office

Mail-in ballots are pouring into the office of the Shasta County Clerk and Registrar of Voters. Cathy Darling-Allen says that as of Monday morning they’ve checked in 16,000 ballots and they have another 3 to 4,000 in house. Of the county’s 101,000 registered voters, 71,000 requested mail-in ballots. That option has exceeded polling place walk-ins in every election since 2005. Darling-Allen says some people send things back with their ballots that they don’t need to include, and that’s pushing the weight over the limit of a first class stamp. ¬†However, she adds that the post office is instructed to deliver all ballots regardless of whether they’re overweight.
