More mailers have been sent out by the City of Redding concerning a proposed hike in water, sewer and garbage rates. The increase in rates would be done in three steps ending in July of 2018. By then the typical single family home would see an increase in their bill of about 20 Dollars, according to a city analysis. The utility sent 63,000 ballots out to customers for them to express their opinions about the rates, but the process used to generate the mailing labels may have missed some folks, so another 6,000 of the notices have been sent. On November 15th the city council will hear customer testimony and complaints during a public hearing. It’ll then be continued to December 15th to be sure everybody has 45 days to consider it.
