A Shasta County Jail inmate died in custody Wednesday afternoon. At around 4:30PM correctional deputies were alerted when 63-year-old Steven Earle Rydlek was found unresponsive inside his cell. Staff and medical personnel tried life-saving measures but Rydlek was pronounced dead. There was no sign of foul play. An autopsy is set for Monday.
