A burglar was caught in the act Wednesday afternoon, according to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office. A woman who lives on Medo Vale Lane called 9-1-1 at 1 O’clock to report a strange man in her backyard. He was trying to get into the house through a sliding glass door. Deputies arrived a few minutes later and reportedly found Michael Chancellor hiding behind some garbage cans in the backyard. He refused to cooperate and tried to flee on foot but was caught. Chancellor has a long history of arrests in Shasta County, and is currently on parole from a burglary conviction. He was booked into jail.
