Woman Arrested After Vandalizing Candidates Signs

Vandalism to Julie Winter’s campaign signs didn’t keep her from being elected, but the alleged vandal has been arrested. On November 5th the city council candidate reported to Redding Police that about 20 of her signs around town had the word “Bethel” spray-painted on them in orange paint, or had Bethel bumper stickers slapped onto them. Julie Winter hasn’t concealed her affiliation with Bethel. On the contrary, her advertising boasted of her serving on the board of Advance Redding, the Bethel-owned corporation that runs the Civic Auditorium. On Saturday police were called by a local business because a woman had been there bragging about vandalizing the campaign signs because of her hatred for Bethel Church. She was identified as 54-year-old Paula Rudy, who was arrested at her home Sunday for vandalism and a civil rights violation.
