A woman who went looking for mushrooms in the Six Rivers National Forest had to be rescued after slipping and falling into a creek drainage, according to the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office. Rayona Scott headed into the forest near Hawkins Bar on Tuesday, and did not contact her ride. About 6:20AM on Wednesday, a family member called the sheriff’s office and a search team was called in. Searchers from the Forest Service and Trinity County Deputies found Scott at about 2:30PM on Wednesday on a Forest Service road near the Hawkins Creek Drainage. Apparently Scott had slipped into the drainage and was yelling for help. Forest Service crews bundledSscott up and carried her through the steep terrain and to an awaiting ambulance. Scott was suffering from mild hypothermia, but is expected to recover.
