Secret Witness of Shasta County will no longer pay $250 rewards for the capture of Shasta County’s Most Wanted after the start of the new year. President of the organization Sharon Lassiter says the board decided that the program does not meet the definition in their by-laws, which states “for information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons involved”. The people on the most wanted list have all been convicted already. If someone on the list has committed a new crime that merits a reward for their capture, the reward will be posted individually, but there’s no more “standing reward” available after January 1st.
