Participation in the Redding East Rotary Club’s Ducky Derby has brought a significant monetary reward for youth programs at some area schools. On Wednesday the club will hold their Ducky Derby distribution luncheon and hand out $175,000 to dozens of participating schools and groups who sold tickets for the 27th annual event, held in September at Caldwell Park. All of the money raised goes to the sellers after the cost of renting the little yellow rubber ducks. The reining duck sale leader, Turtle Bay School, is on top again with more than $22,000. Rounding out the top five were Mistletoe, Boulder Creek, Redding School of the Arts and Junction. The program has raised more than $4.4 Million since it began. Wednesday’s luncheon is at Riverview Country Club.
