The extraordinarily high level of the Sacramento River is something people had better get used to. The Bureau of Reclamation has announced that releases from Keswick Dam will remain at 79,000 cubic feet per second through the next couple of weeks. With another rainstorm starting this week and the dam just a few feet from the crest, officials say the high releases are necessary to maintain flood control. The Sacramento River is completely closed to boating and other recreational activities until further notice. People who live in low-lying areas are encouraged to move things to higher ground and fortify with sandbags. Locations of available sand and bags can be found on our Facebook page.
