A young woman who allegedly stole a pickup Wednesday night was almost as determined as the truck’s owner, who was chasing her. At 6:45PM a woman reported that her husband’s Chevy 2500 pickup had just been stolen from near the Shasta High School ball fields. She said her husband, Justin Ward, was driving around in their Yukon looking for the truck. As Redding Police were checking that area, calls started coming from downtown reporting what appeared to be road rage, with a Chevy truck missing a rear tire being chased by a Yukon northbound on Market Street. The same reports then came from Market and Lake Boulevard, and then from Highway 299 eastbound under Interstate 5. Officers followed the trail but couldn’t locate the hobbled chase, which continued to the far east end of College View Drive and the dead end of Sara Drive. That’s where witnesses say 22-year-old Dallas Roush finally got out of the pickup and was quickly surrounded by the residents of Sara Drive. Roush allegedly pulled out a knife and brandished it around, refusing to put it down until one of the bystanders pepper sprayed her. She then dropped the knife and was held until police got there. She was uninjured and booked into jail for car theft, assault, brandishing and a felony warrant from Tehama County.
