Red Bluff High School has a sexting problem, according to police. “Sexting” is the sharing of explicit images via cell phone. On Tuesday 18-year-old Joshua Guthrie was arrested following an investigation. He had allegedly been sexually involved with a number of his fellow students, mostly 14-to-17-year-old girls, and police say he was in possession of explicit images of many of them on his cell phone. Some of those images have apparently been shared with other students, and shared again, without the knowledge or consent of the girls in the photos. The Red Bluff Police Department and the school district say they’re pursuing the case as production, possession and distribution of child pornography. More arrests are expected. Parents are encouraged to have stern discussions with their children about sexting, and how it often leads to blackmail and extortion.
