Redding Police conducted a surprise sobriety checkpoint Friday night, but they didn’t catch any drunks. It was on eastbound Hartnell Avenue near Lawrence Road. From 6:10 to 10:15PM, a total of 787 vehicles passed through, with no DUI’s. Two drivers were cited for having no license, and another was cited for having a suspended license. Redding Police say arrests aren’t the point, but rather deterrence. They promise another checkpoint in the very near future.
