Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies mistook a man for a probationer they were after, but the mistaken man ran anyway. On Monday the sheriff’s office was tipped that a wanted man named Michael Sansalone was at a Riverland Drive address. At 8:20AM deputies arrived and saw a man fitting Sansalone’s description in the front yard. He took off running, jumping over several fences and running through yards until a deputy caught him. There was a struggle and the man broke free, but the deputy used a taser and brought him down. It turned out the man was not Sansalone. It was Jason Leroy Rakestraw, a Humboldt County man on probation for resisting an officer by use of violence. He was booked into jail for obstructing and delaying an officer. Sansalone was later found and arrested by Redding Police.
