In terms of marijuana businesses, Corning may become the Shasta Lake City of Tehama County. County supervisors, like their counterparts in Shasta County, have taken a hard line against marijuana and have generally resisted efforts to promote or condone the recreational use of marijuana. Just as Shasta Lake City is a very permissive island of cooperation between the city and marijuana businesses, the City of Corning is considering issuing a permit for a marijuana store, according to the Corning Observer. Corning once had a medical marijuana dispensary but it eventually had to close when the city enacted a ban.
