A 37-year-old Redding man has been found guilty by a jury of a number of charges after drunkenly threatening family members with a gun in South Redding one morning in March of last year. Redding Police were called to a home on Paso Drive in Westwood Manor. Lo Saelee needed help with his brother-in-law, Xiong Moua, who was despondent because he found out his wife was seeking a divorce. Moua had his two daughters, aged 4 and 6, with him at Saelee’s house and the men were arguing when Moua picked up a 12 gauge shotgun and pointed it at Saelee and the children, threatening to kill them all. Saelee fought with Moua and got the shotgun away from him, and then hit him over the head with it. He then fled the house with the children and called police. Moua headed to a neighbor’s house seeking refuge. When officers got there they surrounded the house and tried to locate Moua, who was eventually found passed out in his car in the driveway. During trial Moua’s now ex-wife testified that he had previously threatened to kill her with the shotgun or a knife if she tried to leave him. He was convicted Wednesday of assault with a firearm, 2 counts of child abuse and criminal threats. Sentencing is June 30th.
