A round of drug rehab grants has been announced by the Board of State and Community Corrections. The grants are generated from 103 Million Dollars of savings the state estimated as resulting from Proposition 47. The board chose the projects that seemed most promising. 23 agencies were given grants, but none of them are north of Corning. A Million Dollars is being given to the Corning-based “Restore” diversion program, which targets arrested or convicted adolescents with criminal offenses and a history of mental health issues or substance abuse. The program, which connects youth and their families to housing, education and employment services, is in its first year of implementation.
