Unemployment in Shasta County is at a historic low, with a rate in May of 5.1% that’s the lowest for May since the modern record keeping system began in 1990. The labor force is holding strong too. Shasta County had 600 more jobs in May than in April, with the greatest increase shown in mining, logging and construction. Tehama County had a jobless rate of 6.2% last month. It was 6.6% in Trinity County and 7.5% in Siskiyou County. It was 4.2% for the state and 4.1% nationally.
