Intense heat made conditions especially rough for firefighters over the weekend. The Bolla Fire in Tehama County is west of Platina off Highway 36 near Tedoc Road. It was at one point reported as 75 acres but it was later remapped and fully contained Sunday at 60 acres. Firefighters were hindered along the way when they came upon a large marijuana garden with an array of fencing individually surrounding each plant. The Bogus Fire in Northern Siskiyou County is near Ager Beswick Road and Crest Lane south of Copco Lake. At last report it’s 40 acres and 50% contained. A lot of Cal-Fire resources were used Friday in an aggressive attack on the Skyway Fire in Butte County east of Chico and south of the Skyway. That fire burned 134 acres. A few fires started Sunday in Shasta County almost simultaneously. A brush fire off of Clairvaux Lane south of Highway 299 between Shasta College and Bella Vista started in the early afternoon and began to threaten some homes, but firefighters held it back and contained it to about a half acre. At around 12:30PM Sunday on Southbound Interstate Five at the Riverside Exit in Anderson a tire blowout on a boat trailer threw sparks from the wheel grinding the asphalt. That caused a small fire that forced the closure of the freeway offramp, as well as Riverside Avenue.
