Woman Reports Being Raped On River Trail

A rapist is on the loose following an attack on the Sacramento River Trail Saturday morning. The victim called 9-1-1 at around 8:30AM. She had been in the area of the Ribbon Bridge when a man assaulted and raped her. After the attack he fled westbound on a dirt trail while she fled to Washington Avenue to get help. She was then transported by ambulance to a hospital to be treated for her injuries. She described the attacker as a white man, about 6-feet-tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a mask, a blue hoodie, a green army jacket, gray sweat pants and boots. The area was heavily searched by Redding Police with a K9, a CHP helicopter and Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies but the suspect was not found. It’s hoped that his description will lead to a tip.
