Man Arrested After Chase From Redding To Andeson

A suspected burglar and car thief led Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies on a high speed 12 mile chase early Tuesday morning. At 3:42AM deputies spotted the stolen 2013 Ford Taurus going southbound on Highway 273 in South Redding. It pulled into the Circle K parking lot in Westwood Village as the deputies attempted to make an enforcement stop. A woman got out of the passenger side and walked away as the driver sped out of the parking lot.  He led the deputies down 273 to Canyon Road, which turns into Happy Valley Road. He reached speeds of 80 to 100 miles an hour before taking a left on Olinda Road toward Anderson. Police there used a spike strip, which successfully popped tires and disabled the car on South Street near West Street. The driver, identified as Jason Gray, surrendered. The car contained items believed to be taken in recent burglaries. Gray is on post release supervision and had two felony warrants.
