Following a breakdown in negotiations, a labor union has announced a strike for some Trinity County government workers. United Public Employees Of California –or “UPEC”- represents more than 150 rank-and-file employees of Trinity County. They have apparently been working without a contract since the start of the year and UPEC had set June 19th as a deadline to have an agreement in place. A meeting was held Monday morning between union officials and county management but they remain deadlocked over two key points: pay and medical care. A two week strike was agreed to by a vote of the union members, and that strike is set to begin next Monday.
