DUI Checkpoint Held On South Bonnyview Road

One arrest was made at a sobriety checkpoint in Redding Thursday night. Redding Police set up the checkpoint on South Bonnyview Road from 6 O’clock to 11:15PM. 971 vehicles passed through and were screened. Six drivers were cited for driving without a license and one for driving on a suspended license. One person was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Redding Police say they’ll do another checkpoint in the near future, as well as DUI saturation patrols. Drug impaired driving has increased dramatically in California, with 30% of drivers in fatal crashes having one or more drugs in their systems. In fact, twice as many drivers test positive for drug impairment than for alcohol impairment.
