Public Meeting Will Help Develop Downtown Tree Management Plan

Downtown Redding’s many trees will be the topic of a community meeting Tuesday afternoon. The downtown area has more than 600 trees of 50 different species, mostly Oaks but also exotic varieties like Japanese Maple and Ailanthus. Many of the trees have suffered the effects of drought and the city has hired a consultant to develop a “downtown street tree management plan”. Downtown is defined as the area bordered by Trinity, South, Court and East Streets. In order to share the process with the public and gather feedback, a meeting will be held at 5:30PM Tuesday in the community room next to the council chambers at city hall.
