An investigation into commercial burglaries in Montgomery Creek led to much more. The Pit River Convenience Store was broken into on June 12th and again on the 20th. Surveillance footage showed a black GMC truck and that truck was found parked outside a home at the Montgomery Creek Rancheria. Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies out of Burney arrived there Tuesday and nobody answered the door. They then discovered the truck was stolen, as was another vehicle parked beside it. That was enough to get a search warrant so deputies waited for the warrant and went inside to find 46-year-old Michael “Rizzo” Bamford and 34-year-old Crystal McLane. Both were allegedly busy at the wood stove trying to burn a lot of other people’s mail. The mail was stolen from residents in the area of Millville, Oak Run and Bella Vista. A search reportedly turned up evidence from the store break-ins and other burglaries in the Burney area. Bamford and McLane apparently left identifying information in the stolen vehicles, easily tying them to those as well.
