Just south of the Shasta County line there’s a vast area of dry vegetation where fireworks are sold and legally used. Despite high temperatures and many fireworks complaints, this Fourth of July there were zero fireworks-related injuries or fires. The Tehama-Glenn Unit of CalFire credits their own public awareness campaign, along with extensive patrols, for the incident-free holiday. Officials want to remind people that any unused fireworks need to be locked up and stored very carefully. In past years many fires have been started by children playing with leftover fireworks from the Fourth.
