A cat burglar and car thief arrested in June in Tehama County has been sentenced. It was 3AM June 16th when deputies stopped a Jeep for minor traffic violations on South Jackson Street in Red Bluff and contacted the driver, 26-year-old Arthur Peniaranda-Balderas. After an investigation it was discovered that Peniaranda had just driven from Chico, where he had stolen the Jeep and loaded it up with items stolen from the home of the Jeep owner. The victim was still asleep and didn’t even know about the theft until he was awakened by Chico Police. Peniaranda-Balderas had just been released from Butte County Jail the day before. He’s been sentenced to 4 years in state prison.
