Redding Firefighter Injured On Southern California Fire

A Redding firefighter has been injured while working on the largest of the southern California fires. The mishap occurred at around 7 o’clock Sunday morning as a Redding fire crew was helping battle the Thomas Fire, which has burned nearly a quarter million acres in a week as it rips through Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. The injured firefighter was treated for a broken lower leg at a hospital and then sent home to Redding. He’ll be replaced by another Redding firefighter. As part of the mutual aid system, Redding Fire Chief Gerry Gray sent 3 fire engines and 13 firefighters, including two battalion chiefs, to assist on the southern California firestorm.
