Local 1st Responders Shaving Heads To Support Cancer Research

Some first responders in Anderson are inspiring donations for cancer research by going green and going bald. Signarama has donated vinyl wraps to temporarily apply an unmistakable shade of green to an Anderson Police car and an Anderson fire truck. After people turn their heads to notice, they may see that many of the officers and firefighters have shaved their heads. That’s to show solidarity and support for the Lockwoods, a local family who have two children battling cancer. The green vehicles and the bald heads are the idea of the Saint Baldrick’s Foundation, a national effort to fund cancer research through events where people shave their heads in symbolic support of the kids, and donate funds to support cancer research. One such event will be held March 30th from 10AM to 2PM at Signarama, 1355 Hartnell Avenue. Sports Clips is donating their time to do the shaving. Along with members of the APD and Anderson Fire, some personnel from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies are also expected to give up their hair on the 30th.
