Police Release More Details About Downtown Carjacking Suspect

Redding Police say a man arrested Tuesday for two attempted carjacking’s had been on a bit if a crime spree that day. At 5:17PM Casey John Stout allegedly tried to steal a woman’s purse on Market Street. She didn’t give up the purse without a fight, which caught the attention of two other women, and all three of them sent Stout running away without the purse. Police say that whole incident was caught on camera. Just a few minutes later Stout allegedly threw a rock through the window of a car parked on Pine Street in order to steal things. That was also apparently caught on camera. Police say that’s when Stout headed to the downtown parking structure and tried to carjack an 83-year-old man, only to be knocked to the ground by a concerned bystander. Following a foot chase he was eventually captured by Redding Police after reportedly attempting another carjacking.
