A Redding man who’s been to prison for stealing cars is going back for the same reason. 35-year-old Michael Gannon was released from prison last June. In August and September he was back to his old ways with a series of automotive thefts. On August 8th Redding Police were doing a crime sweep when they spotted a stolen Ford pickup on North Court near Riverside Drive. They tried to pull the truck over and a chase ensued, ending a short time later when the truck left Twin View Boulevard and collided with a fence. Gannon was booked into jail but soon had to be released because of overcrowding and he continued to steal cars. He reached a plea deal with prosecutors and was sentenced Wednesday to 6 years 8 months in state prison.
