A pedestrian suffered major injuries when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver after Midnight Friday night in East Redding, but police found nothing at the scene to identify either the victim or the driver. Witnesses called at 12:37AM and reported that the man had been crossing Hartnell Avenue at Fairway Avenue just west of Victor. He may have been coming from the Castle Lounge, which was the only business in that area that was open at the time. The unidentified victim was transported to Mercy Medical Center where, at last word, he was in critical condition. Witnesses described the vehicle as a silver or gray sedan with a boxy body style. Evidence at the scene showed that the windshield may have been broken by the impact.
