A small fire of suspicious origin was extinguished by Redding Firefighters Tuesday afternoon. The blaze was reported by multiple drivers at the northeast corner of Canby Road and Browning Street at around 3:45PM. The first arriving engine company reported a moderate rate of spread on about a 50-by-50-foot spot of vegetation burning, as well as an REU power pole. The pole was singed, but did not sustain enough damage to be replaced. The fire burned about a 100 foot area, and was likely caused by transient activity. A Redding Fire Investigator found syringes and other drug paraphernalia in a small homeless camp tucked within the trees and brush.
