Cal Fire Law Enforcement Officers arrested a man early Tuesday morning after he was allegedly found in possession of bottle water stolen from fire crews. About 1AM 40-year-old Christopher John Smith was seen parked in a Mazda in a parking lot near where the Creek Fire is burning. The parking lot was subject to a closure and was only designated for day time use. The Cal Fire Officers were suspicious because the Mazda resembled a vehicle that had been seen on surveillance video and social media taking cases of bottled water designated for firefighters working the fire. Officers searched the Mazda and found a partial case of the stolen water. Smith was arrested and booked into Shasta County Jail for possession of Meth, petty theft, and on two misdemeanor warrants. Crews are continuing to mop of the Creek Fire which has burned 1678 acres and is 98% contained.
