Redding Police brought the hammer down on Lake Redding Park Tuesday. Officers say they’ve noticed for several weeks an increase in drug use, vandalism and general unclean behavior, particularly in the gazebo area of the park. They had received a number of complaints as well from families trying to use the park. For the past week officers have taken a soft approach, giving warnings and advice, and informing the occupants of the services available to homeless people. That approach didn’t seem to be working so Tuesday morning several officers converged on the location. 15 criminal citations were issued and one warrant arrest was made. Officers then helped clear trash that had been left behind, including syringes and other drug paraphernalia.
