The Klamathon Fire is almost defeated. Some evacuation warnings remain, but all evacuation orders have been lifted. The fire started last Thursday afternoon near Hornbrook and spread quickly, forcing residents to run for their lives without much chance to salvage any belongings. One man was killed when he was caught in the firestorm near his house. Three firefighters have suffered injuries, including one who suffered severe facial burns. At least 82 structures have been destroyed and another dozen have been damaged. 315 structures remain threatened. The latest estimate has the Klamathon Fire at 36,500 acres with 70% containment. Cal-Fire says the south, west, and east flanks are holding well and dozers are working on the northern area.
